Japanese photojournalist Shinsuke Hashida (61) and his nephew Kotaro Ogawa (33) were killed in a rocket-propelled grenade attack on their vehicle south of Baghdad, their Iraqi driver told the hospital where the incinerated bodies were taken on Friday May 27. The journalists were returning from Japan's military base in the southern town of Samawa on Thursday afternoon when they were attacked by insurgents firing rocket-propelled grenades near the town of Mahmudiya.
Wednesday test results confirmed that the body airlifted from Iraq to Kuwait is that of Shinsuke Hashida. The confirmation was based on bone analysis, dental records and DNA tests carried out on blood samples provided by his family members.
